Yesterday we took a long walk on the west side of the harbour in the evening to enjoy the sunset. From Vesterbro it is easy to access the west side of the harbor by crossing the Bryggebroen Bridge at Fisketorvet (Copenhagen Mall).
It was a long nice, long walk from Bryggebroen Bidge to Inderhavnsbroen Brigde – around 3 km’s – a little more than half an hour. At Inderhavnsbroen Brigde it is possible to cross over to Nyhavn. We stopped by Vaffelbageren (Nyhavn 49, vaffelbageren.dk) to have a huge ice cream at the excellent ice cream shop. It is one of my favorites places for ice cream as they have the classic cream based ice cream in home baked cones with the Danish speciality ‘guf’ on top.
To do a walk on the west side of the best things to do when you visit Copenhagen. This is the place where the Copenhageners hang out: to sun bathe, to sit in a group with friends having beers, to jump into the harbor for a swim, to have a run, to walk the dog. In sunny weather it gets crowded around Havnebadet at Islands Brygge where it is legal to take a harbour swim from the enclosed, safe guarded area.
